Precision L-shape Front Piggy-back Damper

This CNC-style aluminium piggy-back internal damper is supplied as a precision replacement for the Traxxas Unlimited Desert Racer 1/7 platform. The L-shape housing accommodates an internal piston configuration and the 160mm length is matched to the front shock geometry of the compatible model for accurate fitment where mount spacing is correct.

Installation is engineered as a direct swap at front damper mounting points when compatible; retain existing springs and top retainers if they fit. Damping is adjusted via the top spring retainer and fine tuned with the red adjustment screw at the base of the negative-pressure oil chamber to change internal preload and oil flow, enabling measurable changes to rebound and compression rates without altering spring rates or shock length.

Intended for serious suspension tuning, this component focuses on durability and predictable performance under track conditions while keeping serviceability straightforward for hobbyists and tuners.

Adopt routine shock service practices before and after fitting: clean mounting areas, verify shaft straightness and seal integrity, and tune in incremental steps while monitoring handling changes.

Measure existing eye-to-eye shock length and mount spacing, check eyelet diameter and fit, and confirm there is clearance for the piggy-back body before installation.
Rotating the red screw changes preload on the negative-pressure chamber and alters internal oil flow paths, providing discrete changes to compression and rebound damping without replacing internal components.
For competitive use inspect seals and oil after each event, replace oil when contaminated, and check for bushing or shaft wear to maintain consistent damping performance.
Yes. Combine changes to the top retainer and adjuster screw with different oil viscosities to tailor response for hardpack, loose dirt or mixed surfaces while keeping spring rates constant.
