Precision L-shape Piggy Back Damper for High-scale XRT 8S

Engineered as an aftermarket upgrade for the TRAXXAS XRT 8S, this L-shape piggy back damper focuses on precise rebound control and robust impact absorption to stabilise vehicle behaviour on demanding surfaces.

Manufactured with a 6061-T6 aluminium body and a shock-absorb cap to reduce leakage, the design integrates a piston spring within the piggy back reservoir to provide fine incremental rebound adjustment. The shaft is polished and enlarged to 7.0mm to improve stiffness and reduce bending risk relative to the original 5.2mm rod.

External adjustment is achieved via the top spring retainer for preload control and the red screw at the bottom of the negative pressure oil cylinder for rebound bias changes, enabling setup changes without shock teardown. The dampers ship with replaceable 2.9mm silver coil springs and are compatible with the fitted 2.8mm black spring if retained.

Installation recommendations: intended for either front or rear mounting on the specified TRAXXAS chassis; verify mount spacing and thread form prior to installation and use appropriate shock oil and seal maintenance procedures to ensure consistent sealing and long service life.

Packing includes

  • Damper - 2pcs
  • 2.9mm Silver coil springs - 2pcs

Original Name / Part No:

7861

Compatible Models

  • TRAXXAS-1/6 4WD XRT 8S-78086-4

Use these precision dampers to tune rebound and load response on the TRAXXAS XRT 8S; adjust spring rates and preload to achieve the target handling balance.

5 star rating exquisite workman ship couldn't be happier.
Upgrades include a 6061-T6 aluminium body, a sealed shock-absorb cap, an internal piston spring in the piggy back reservoir for refined rebound, and a stiffer 7.0mm polished rod to reduce bending.
Disassemble per standard shock procedure, inspect and replace seals, clean internal surfaces, and reassemble with the recommended shock oil; keep the piston spring orientation and preload consistent to preserve rebound characteristics.
Yes, the design supports routine rebuilds and component replacement. Use specified seals and compatible springs to retain intended performance and fitment.
Start with baseline preload and medium shock oil, then iteratively adjust preload and the red rebound screw while monitoring lap times and handling; document each change to isolate the most effective settings.
