BBX52S steel differential introduction

This preassembled rear differential is designed for select TAMIYA 1/10 platforms. The BBX52S replaces the BBX BB-01 factory rear differential (part 54471) and converts the original ball-type configuration into a 40Cr steel bevel-gear unit with a 52-tooth gear set. The unit is supplied preassembled and includes thin stainless washers for bearing clearance adjustment.

Fit notes: remove the two foam spacers when fitting to BBX chassis; XV01 installs without spacer removal. Differential oil is not included and must be added separately. Purchasing two units is suggested if you intend to run them on both front and rear.

Maintenance and setup: two 10x12x0.3mm stainless washers are supplied for fine adjustment of bearing play. Use medium-strength threadlocker on fasteners to avoid loosening while running. No special machining is required beyond ordinary rear gearbox access for the supported chassis.

Can I install the BBX52S without modifying the gearbox?

In most supported chassis the BBX52S fits using standard rear gearbox access; follow the model-specific instructions such as foam spacer removal on BBX types.

What is included to adjust play at the bearings?

Two stainless steel 10x12x0.3mm washers are provided to tune bearing preload and reduce unwanted lateral movement.

Is additional lubrication provided?

No. The differential is supplied dry so you can choose the diff oil or grease that best suits your tuning goals.

How do I keep the assembly secure under load?

Secure all mounting screws with a medium-strength threadlocker and verify bearing preload using the supplied shims to maintain stability during running.
