Technical overview

The SSB020T is a 20-tooth motor pinion engineered for Losi Super Baja applications. Produced in hardened steel #45, the component provides consistent tooth profile engagement with the spur to transmit motor torque into the drivetrain while resisting wear under load.

Intended to replace a stock 19T where the motor mount allows a 20T position, proper installation requires verifying motor shaft placement and ensuring the set screw is seated before final mesh adjustment to avoid excessive backlash or binding.

Use this hardened pinion for incremental gear ratio tuning or to increase pinion longevity in abrasive off-road use. After installation, confirm spur gear mesh and bearing alignment, and rotate the drivetrain manually to validate smooth engagement before energising the system.

This item is compatible with

  • TEAM LOSI Super BAJA REY 4X4
  • 1/6 4WD XRT 8S-78086-4
The pinion is manufactured from hardened steel #45 to provide enhanced surface hardness and wear resistance compared with untreated pinions.
Set a minimal free play between pinion and spur, then tighten the set screw while rotating the drivetrain to ensure there is no binding and minimal backlash under hand rotation.
Verify motor shaft alignment, set-screw security, spur condition and bearing play. Conduct a hand-rotation check of the drivetrain to confirm smooth engagement prior to power application.
