Precision aluminium low-CG dampers matched to rally tyres

This four-piece upgrade replaces the stock suspension on listed Traxxas Slash 4x4 variants to lower the centre of gravity and refine chassis dynamics at speed. The aluminium-bodied shocks are engineered to work with low-ground-clearance tyres to reduce roll and improve lateral tracking across flat and mixed surfaces.

Technical details: the damper body diameter is increased to 13.8mm and the shock shaft diameter is 4mm, while coil springs have a slight nominal length increase versus the reference setup. The enlarged internal volume and extended spring seating range expand oil capacity and tuning range, delivering more predictable mid-speed compliance and damping response over repetitive small impacts.

Included hardware supports precision setup: 4mm and 5mm aluminium shims for preload tuning, 12-17 hex converters to match common Slash 4x4 wheel hexes, lock nuts, Delrin collars and stainless button-head screws for secure assembly. Use shims to set initial preload and verify hex seating for correct wheel engagement.

Installation and tuning notes: intended for experienced hobbyists and tuners familiar with suspension geometry and shock servicing; confirm thread depth on replacement fasteners, check for shaft binding through travel and perform a post-fit wheel alignment. Start with conservative preload and two 4mm shims per corner, then iterate spring preload and oil viscosity to achieve the desired balance between understeer and traction.

A CNC-grade aftermarket solution focused on lowering roll centre and improving damping stability for Slash 4x4 platforms; use the included shims and collars for precise preload and track calibration.

The kit upsizes the shock cylinder to 13.8mm and uses a 4mm shaft, with slightly longer springs. These changes increase oil volume and spring seating options for finer mid-speed damping control.
Given the larger internal volume, begin with your baseline oil and test for rebound and mid-speed compliance; adjust oil weight and spring rate incrementally to tune balance and traction for your track conditions.
Check thread engagement when substituting fasteners and ensure the 12-17 hex converters seat fully to prevent wheel runout. Inspect shock shaft travel for any interference with the new bodies.
Yes, but confirm overall diameter and hex compatibility. Larger or wider tyres will change handling and may require additional preload or damping adjustments.
