Mini-Z AWD precision pinion set

This precision-machined aluminium pinion set is supplied for Kyosho Mini-Z AWD drivetrains and covers standard pinion sizes used in Mini-Z AWD motor modules. The 15T, 17T, 19T and 21T options allow systematic final drive changes without modifying the spur gear or motor assembly.

Engineering notes: manufactured from CNC-friendly aluminium alloy to reduce wear and minimise rotational inertia for micro-scale drivetrains. The parts are intended for robust replacement use and for fine tuning final drive ratios to balance acceleration, top speed and motor load.

Service and installation: remove motor from mounting, release current pinion fastener, install selected tooth-count pinion ensuring correct axial location and backlash with the spur, then secure and verify endplay. Use precision hex tooling and controlled torque values to avoid damage to motor shaft threads and maintain repeatable mesh settings.

Tuning strategy: lower tooth counts (15T) reduce gear ratio for higher top speed but lower acceleration, while higher counts (21T) increase torque at the wheels and improve low speed response; choose pinion size based on circuit demands and motor characteristics.

Set axial position so there is minimal backlash while avoiding binding; rotate the drivetrain slowly and observe contact pattern across tooth faces.
Higher tooth counts increase motor RPM under the same wheel speed and can raise current draw; monitor motor temperature after changes and adjust gearing if needed.
Check tooth condition and fastener torque after each session or after any impact; replace pinions showing tooth deformation or persistent noise.
