This aftermarket alloy shock body is supplied as part number SAV13170/SB for the HPI Savage 21 platform. It replaces worn plastic or thin aluminium cylinders and is intended for installation inside the shock assembly only.
The part is machined aluminium designed to increase wall rigidity and improve heat dispersion compared with plastic bodies. As an upgrade it restores the mechanical envelope of worn shocks and provides a repeatable base for tuning oil viscosities and internal component stacks to control damping characteristics.
Service procedure follows standard shock maintenance: remove the shock from the suspension arm, dismantle the cap and shaft assembly, transfer or renew internals, install the alloy body, then reassemble and refill with the selected shock oil. Verify O-ring and seal seating and replace any components showing wear to avoid leakage. Conduct low-speed stroke and leak checks before full operation.
On-track, alloy bodies will change heat management and structural stiffness relative to plastic counterparts; this affects temperature rise and damping consistency during prolonged runs. Confirm mechanical compatibility with Savage 21 mounting interfaces prior to race deployment.
