16T steel pinion with regraded profile

This 16-tooth steel motor pinion with a 5mm bore SBJ016TO features a regraded tooth profile optimised for HPI Baja platforms. It is supplied as an aftermarket steel pinion intended to mesh with the stock spur gear or SBJ057T, providing a direct steel replacement where a reprofiled tooth form and increased wear resistance are preferred.

Installation procedure: place the pinion onto a 5mm motor shaft, align tooth engagement with the spur gear, and secure the set screw. Verify backlash and tooth contact visually and rotate the drivetrain by hand to confirm smooth engagement; the regraded profile is intended to improve initial engagement but final mesh must be set to the chassis specification. Supplied as 1pcs.

Notes for tuning: altering pinion tooth count changes acceleration versus top speed characteristics.
