Precision wheel hex adapters for SCX10 II

This pair of CNC-friendly aluminium wheel hex adapters delivers a 27mm overall width to increase track and improve lateral stability on scale crawlers and trail rigs. The design is compatible with AXIAL Racing SCX10 II and allows a wider wheel offset without altering hub or axle geometry.

The adapters are machined to accept wheels with a 5mm centre hole and to mount on 4mm threaded wheel shafts, so fitment requires matching those dimensions. A Delrin locating collar is used within the hex assembly to control axial play and to maintain positive wheel seating under high traction loads encountered in technical crawling.

Retention hardware is arranged for reliable clamping: an O-ring provides preload on one face while the opposite face uses a spring-steel retaining ring, compression spring with washers, and a stainless steel screw to clamp the stack. This assembly permits micro-adjustment of preload so retention can be increased without inducing bearing bind.

Applied as an upgrade, these adapters widen stance for improved cornering stability on rock sections and technical trails and reduce unwanted wheel rotation when traction transfers across the axle. Installation is mechanical and intended for routine hobby maintenance using common hex drivers and basic hand tools.

Confirm that wheel centre bore is 5mm and that the wheel shaft thread measures 4mm. Check that hubs and bearings have appropriate clearance for a 27mm adapter offset to avoid interference.
Axial play is controlled by the Delrin locating collar and by setting O-ring preload plus the retaining ring and spring stack. Adjust the screw tension to achieve the desired retention without loading bearing surfaces.
