The added per-wheel mass increases traction when a wheel is inside a depression or when negotiating low-angle obstacles. The pendulum geometry keeps the weight oriented downward during rotation, reducing tendency for wheel lift and helping to maintain tyre contact through articulation.

Compatibility and fit considerations: the 21mm hex increases hub flange width relative to many stock hexes, and the pendulum uses a bearing with a Delrin collar to preserve smooth relative rotation. The manufacturer specifies a single pendulum plus hex weight of 54 grams and a 21mm hex width.
