This GPM belt drive kit is an aftermarket gearbox replacement engineered for Axial crawler platforms. It uses 6061-T6 aluminium components paired with a rubber timing belt and friction discs to reduce gearbox vibration and audible noise relative to conventional metal gear trains, delivering a smoother drive feel for trail and rock crawling applications.
Technical note: the belt-driven arrangement reduces peak torque transmission compared with a direct metal gear mesh, so extremely high-power motor configurations may not achieve the same static load capacity as a full metal gear drive. Confirm motor shaft inner diameter is 3.175 before installation; the large pulley in this kit follows a common RC spline standard rather than a model-specific spline.
Professional installation overview: secure the original gearbox metal plate, insert the selected friction disc into the matching pulley groove, centre the bearing and reinstall the metal plate with anti-skid spring and nut. Position the two pulley gears to accept the belt, then set final spacing to achieve correct belt tension. Verify set screws are torqued appropriately and that the belt runs true without lateral loading.
