Engineered titanium hinge pins for small-scale RC

The TAR101 hinge pin set is engineered for compatibility with Associated RC 18T chassis and supplied as four pairs to cover common pivot positions. Manufactured to provide a favourable strength-to-weight ratio and superior corrosion resistance compared with standard steel pins, these titanium pins are intended as direct replacement components to reduce pivot play and support repeatable suspension geometry under load.

Application details: These pins locate in the standard Associated RC 18T hubs and act as the pivot axis for front or rear assemblies depending on vehicle layout. They are used both in routine maintenance to replace worn components and in setup work where precise pivot heights and seating help maintain handling consistency.

Service and installation: Install using normal hinge pin procedures: clean the pivot bores, remove e-clips or retaining clips, extract the old pins and inspect hub bores for wear. Fit the TAR101 pins and reinstall retainers, verifying free suspension travel through the full range. Only apply thread-lock to adjacent fasteners that specify its use; the pins do not require adhesive treatment.

Technical maintenance notes

  • Measure hub bore diameter before fitting to ensure the new pins seat without introducing play.
  • Use a thin film of compatible lubricant on contact faces to limit metal-on-metal wear and binding.
  • Confirm alignment settings after replacement since small variations in pivot seating can affect toe and camber.
Inspect hub bores for ovaling, corrosion or debris and verify pin diameter and length against the original parts to ensure correct seating and alignment.
A light synthetic oil or thin grease on the mating surfaces reduces friction and helps prevent corrosion; avoid heavy greases that can attract grit in off-road use.
Standard RC tools are sufficient: e-clip pliers or a small pick, pliers and a fine punch for gentle removal or installation if pins are tight in the bore.
