Technical servo saver solution for CW-01

This aluminium hi-torque servo saver set is an aftermarket replacement for the Tamiya CW-01 (Lunch Box) chassis, providing a 23T servo-saver spline and a machined aluminium tie rod in a single kit. The metal saver reduces component flex and transfers steering inputs with improved repeatability compared with standard plastic parts.

Installation uses the existing CW-01 steering knuckle and servo horn mounting points to replace the original saver and linkage. Verify spline compatibility with your servo, hand-tighten linkage hardware during setup, and confirm full unbiased steering sweep to detect potential interference.

From a tuning and maintenance standpoint, the aluminium saver assists in maintaining steering geometry under load and gives crisper feedback for adjusting toe and throw. Regular inspections of threads and fasteners will ensure reliable operation and that the saver continues to allow limited sacrificial movement to protect the servo.

The unit uses a 23T servo spline. Ensure your servo horn matches this spline or use an appropriate adapter to maintain correct engagement and preload.
Aluminium reduces compliance in the linkage, which helps preserve steering geometry during cornering or under heavy loads; however it also increases transmitted forces, so verify that some shock-absorbing movement remains in the saver design.
