This CNC-friendly aluminium front and rear gearbox housing set is engineered as a direct scale replacement for Axial RR10 Bomber and Wraith chassis. The machined alloy replaces injection-moulded plastic cases to improve dimensional tolerance, thermal conduction, and resistance to long-term wear in gearbox assemblies used on demanding trail and crawling rigs.

Compatibility is focused on RR10 Bomber and Wraith platforms utilising the AX31317 style gearbox arrangement. Confirm identical gearbox mounting geometry and gear stack orientation prior to installation to ensure accurate alignment and preload conditions.

Assembly recommendations: remove wheel hubs and driveshafts, open the gearbox cover, and transfer internal gears and bearings into the aluminium housings maintaining original orientations. Verify bearing fit, inspect races for sideplay, set gear mesh with feeler gauge or shim method, then torque fasteners to the chassis specified values. Apply medium strength thread locking compound to screws that engage the alloy in high-vibration applications.

Tuning considerations: aluminium housings increase structural stiffness and alter heat dissipation relative to plastic, reducing case deflection and stabilising gear mesh under load. Ensure bearings are correctly seated and lubrication is appropriate, as the stiffer housings can transmit additional vibration into the drivetrain that may require attention to preload and damping.
